RSCA Women crowned Belgian champions again

RSCA women's team clenches the title for the 10th time in its history

With two matchdays left in the Lotto Super League playoffs, the RSCA Women beat Oud-Heverlee Leuven at Den Dreef by 1-2 (goals from Sarah Wijnants & Lore Jacobs). Being seven points clear, our women’s team cannot be caught up anymore in the race for the title and are therefore crowned champions once again. The attacking style of play, in combination with a lot of willpower and the two play-off victories against OHL proved to be the decisive factors in our Women’s title race.

Despite some unfortunate injuries, including Lola Wajnblum and Laura De Neve, RSCA managed to finish the regular season in second spot with only two points behind Leuven. In 20 matches, our ladies recorded 17 victories, lost twice and only had to settle for a draw once.

After the division of the points, our ladies started the play-offs in second position with one point to make up. After two unfortunate losses to Standard and Club YLA, they recovered well and went on to win six games in a row, despite another serious injury to Marie Minnaert. An authoritative 18 points out of 18, which means that this new title is well deserved.

After 28 games, the overall record this season is 23 wins, four losses and one draw. 81 goals were scored and 29 conceded. An impressive display from coach Dave Mattheus’ team, who arrived at Sporting last summer. 18-year-old Lore Jacobs was the most decisive in front of goal with 18 goals and Sarah Wijnants recorded the most assists (18).

A heartfelt congratulations to all the players & the staff for this great collective performance.
