RIP Christiane Vandenbossche

RIP Christiane Vandenbossche

Last Sunday, the founder of our women's section passed away at the age of 80. RSC Anderlecht offers its sincerest condolences to her family and friends. We also wish her husband strength in this difficult time.

Wemmel Dames 71 was founded in 1974 by Lucien Paulis (who coached the team) and his wife Christiane Vandenbossche (who was club president). In 1978, the club changed its name to Brussels Dames 71 and soon became one of Belgium's top women's clubs. In 1993, the club merged with RSC Anderlechtois to become RSC Anderlecht.

Until 2010, the couple were still fully involved in our women's department. Together, Lucien Paulis and Christiane Vandenbossche contributed to four of the ten league titles and nine of the eleven cups won by RSCA Women. Christiane Vandenbossche also represented RSC Anderlecht on the federation's women's football commission.

For her pioneering role in women's football in Belgium, Christiane will forever remain in the hearts of Belgian women's football fans and RSCA Women supporters.

Rest in peace, Christiane.
