Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht just announced the new head coach for the RSCA Women. Johan Walem will take over from Patrick Wachel, who decided to take a step back at the end of this season. In his new role, Johan Walem wants to support the club in its ambitions with the RSCA Women in the domestic league and on the European scene.
The RSCA Women are currently leading the rankings of the Scooore Super League with Patrick Wachel as their head coach. While the ambition to become champion this season stays unchanged, Wachel decided to take a step back at the end of this season.
His successor for next season will be Johan Walem. Walem started his career as a player at RSC Anderlecht in 1981, and played here until 1997. During his career, he gathered 36 selections for the Belgium national team. His coaching career started at Sporting as well, leading the U21's team from 2008 until 2010. Later on in his career he coached, amongst others, Belgium's U21 squad with which he played the European Championship in Italy in 2019. The last team he lead was the Cyprus national team.
Johan Walem now returns to Neerpede for the 2021 - 2022 season. In that role, he will support RSC Anderlecht in its ambition to remain the Best of Belgium, to take further steps in RSCA's European ambitions, and to help push women's football forward.
